Rios of Mercedes dates back to the 1850’s when the Rios family became known for the art of bootmaking.
In the early 1900’s, they moved their shop to Texas’ Rio Grande Valley and continued perfecting their craft.
When the last of the Rios bootmakers, Zeferino, retired in the 1960’s, he sold the family business.

Today Rios of Mercedes, under the guidance of Trainer Evans and J.P. Moody, still makes boots in much the
same way the Rios family did - by hand. We think you should know that there is no secret to producing
well made boots. It takes the best materials, skilled craftsmanship and lots of time.

Anderson Bean was created by the owners of Rios of Mercedes Handmade Boots to make available
a high quality, all leather western boot that would fall in the medium price range.

The independent label has since evolved to include a full line of boots for every purpose, all at an
affordable price and all built with the knowledge and expertise of over 100 years of exceptional boot
making. Our faithfulness to the traditions of quality bootmaking is evident in our
attention to detail inside and outside the boot.

These boots feature a genuine leather vamp, top, lining, side seam, and sole welt. As well as a
premium leather outsole and a thin cushioned insole. The most important feature of a Horse
Power Boot is the styling and fit of a premium boot at an affordable price
for the weekend rider or the casual boot wearer.
